Sainte Barbe Chapel in Roscoff
Sainte Barbe Chapel provides a stunning viewpoint over Batz Island and the old port. Its breathtaking views are best seen on foot or on a bike ride.
This chapel is dedicated to Sainte Barbe, the patron saint of Roscoff. It was built in 1619 to stop attack from pirates. It was also a landmark for ships at sea.
When they left for England to sell their onions, the Johnnies would salute the chapel by hoisting the Breton flag and sing the local anthem, "Rosko, sko mibin, sko Kaled, sko Atao".
